Storefront

Shopify stores designed to sell, not just to launch

A storefront is the shop floor, the window display and the till in one. We design and build Shopify stores for UK retailers where the experience on a phone is as considered as the one on a desktop, and every decision is made with the checkout in mind.

  • Custom themes and rebuilds
  • Mobile-first, conversion-led
  • Fixed quote before we start

Built around how people actually buy

Most Shopify stores are built theme-first: pick a template, fill in the boxes, launch. They look fine and convert poorly, because nobody asked how a customer moves from landing on a product to paying for it. We start with that journey. Which products bring people in, what questions stop them buying, what they need to see before they trust you with their card.

Then we design the storefront backwards from the checkout: collection pages that help people narrow down, product pages that answer the questions your customer service team hears every day, and a path to the basket that never makes anyone hunt for the button.

Mobile first, because that is where your customers are

For a typical UK retailer, somewhere between seventy and eighty-five per cent of visits now come from a phone. A storefront that is designed on a 27-inch monitor and then squeezed down to fit is losing you sales every day. We design the phone experience first, make it fast, and only then expand it to larger screens.

  • Thumb-reachable navigation and sticky add-to-basket on product pages
  • Image and video sizing that loads quickly on a mobile connection
  • Forms, filters and search that work with a thumb, not a mouse
  • Tested on real devices before launch, not just a browser simulator

Speed is a feature

A slow store costs sales and rankings. Every storefront we build ships with a performance budget: optimised images, lean theme code, no app bloat, and Core Web Vitals in the green. If you already have a store that feels sluggish, a speed audit is often the fastest return on a day of our time.

What a storefront project looks like

1. Discovery and audit

We look at your current store, your analytics and your best-selling products, and we talk to whoever answers customer emails. That conversation usually tells us more than any heatmap.

2. Design

Page designs for every template you actually use, reviewed with you on a phone before anything is built. No surprises at launch.

3. Build

A custom theme or a properly customised premium theme, built on Shopify's current theme architecture so your team can edit content without calling a developer.

4. Launch and handover

A launch checklist covering redirects, analytics, payments, shipping and email. Then training for your team, and a care plan if you want us to stay close.

Who this is for

Growing UK retailers who have outgrown their first store but do not have an enterprise agency budget. If you are selling considered purchases, from garden buildings to furniture to specialist equipment, and your store needs to guide people rather than just list things, you are exactly who we built this service for.

Questions we get asked

Do you build custom themes or customise existing ones?

Both, and we will tell you honestly which you need. A well-chosen premium theme customised properly is often the right call for a growing retailer. A fully custom theme makes sense when your catalogue, buying journey or brand needs something a template cannot do.

How long does a Shopify store build take?

A customised theme build is typically four to six weeks from kick-off. A fully custom storefront is usually eight to twelve. We agree the dates in the quote and we hit them.

What does a Shopify store cost?

It depends on scope, which is why we quote fixed prices rather than estimates. Our pricing page has the honest ranges and our day rate, and every project starts with a written quote you can hold us to.

Will my store work properly on mobile?

It will be designed for mobile first. For most UK retailers the majority of visits come from a phone, so we design the phone experience before we touch the desktop layout, and we test on real devices before launch.

Can you work with our existing brand and photography?

Yes. Most of our storefront work builds on brand assets you already have. Where something is missing, such as product photography guidelines or a type scale for the web, we fill the gap as part of the project.
